My phone said “Scam Likely,” so why does Spamurai say “Not in your contacts”?
On many phones, Samsung included, the Scam Likely label only appears on the ringing screen. The carrier or the phone app adds it, and it isn't passed to other apps or saved in Recents. Spamurai still declines the call. It's just listed as “Not in your contacts” instead of “Scam Likely.”
What if it declines someone I know?
Open the Declined list and tap Allow next to their number. From then on their calls ring, even though they're not in your contacts. Tap Call to call them right back.
Will it ever block my contacts?
No. Android checks your contacts first and only hands Spamurai calls from numbers you haven't saved.
What if a business I called calls me back?
“Numbers I've called” lets them ring if you called that exact number in the last 14 days (you can pick 7 days up to forever). Many businesses call back from a different line. If they try again within 5 minutes, Second call rings lets them through.
Can spammers still leave voicemail?
Yes, if voicemail is on. A declined call can still go to your voicemail, since voicemail lives at your carrier. Spamurai has a step-by-step guide to turning it off.
Will I miss an emergency?
After you dial 911, every call rings for 4 hours by default. Calls with a hidden number (“Private”) ring by default too, since hospitals and police often call that way.
Where do declined calls go?
Into Spamurai's Declined list, kept for 90 days by default. Spamurai also removes them from your phone's Recents, and one tap puts any of them back.
What does it need?
Android 10 or newer, and permission to be your Caller ID & spam app. Call history access is optional and turns on “Numbers I've called,” 911 callback and the Recents cleanup. Notifications are optional too.
Why didn't it catch a fake (spoofed) number?
Spotting spoofed numbers needs Android 11 or newer and a carrier that verifies caller ID. When the check isn't available, the call is still declined, just listed as “Not in your contacts.”
Does it work on my phone?
It's built for any Android 10+ phone and has been tested on Samsung Galaxy so far. If something doesn't work on yours, use Report a bug in the app.
